Beyond caring for patients, he is dedicated to shaping the future of medicine as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of General Surgery at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine, where he teaches surgical residents and medical students.
His path to medicine reflects years of academic achievement and specialized training. Dr. Tizio earned his bachelor’s degree from Princeton University before completing a master’s degree in chemistry at Pennsylvania State University. He received his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then completed his general surgery residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, serving as a Clinical Fellow of Harvard Medical School, before pursuing advanced fellowship training in colon and rectal surgery through the Methodist Healthcare System in San Antonio, Texas.
Dr. Tizio is board certified by both the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, reflecting his ongoing commitment to the highest standards of surgical excellence.
His dedication to exceptional patient care has earned him recognition as an NJ Top Doc for several consecutive years, from 2020 through 2026.
