Raised in Tenafly, New Jersey, after being born in New York City, Dr. Abramson’s passion for medicine and academic excellence began early. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Johns Hopkins University before earning his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine in 1988, where he was elected class president, reflecting both his leadership abilities and strong connection with peers.
Dr. Abramson completed extensive postgraduate training, beginning with a General Surgery residency at SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn (Downstate), followed by a highly competitive Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency through the Harvard/Brigham/Children’s Division of Plastic Surgery in Boston. He further specialized through a Craniofacial Surgery fellowship at Harvard, where he also served on the faculty at Harvard Medical School, contributing to both patient care and surgical education.
Bringing his expertise back to the communities closest to home, Dr. Abramson established practices in Manhattan and Englewood, New Jersey, where he continues to care for patients seeking both reconstructive and aesthetic procedures. Throughout his career, he has remained focused on blending artistry with precision, helping patients feel more confident while restoring function and improving quality of life.
A recognized leader in his specialty, Dr. Abramson has held numerous influential positions throughout his career. He has served as Associate Professor of Surgery and Chairman of the Division of Plastic Surgery at SUNY, as well as Program Director of the nation’s oldest Plastic Surgery residency program, helping mentor and train future surgeons. Since 2009, he has served as Chief of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Englewood Health, where he has introduced advanced techniques in procedures such as facelifts, abdominoplasties, breast reduction, and breast reconstruction, helping shape modern standards of care.
His leadership has extended beyond surgery, serving as President of the Englewood Health Medical Staff, Acting Associate Chief of Surgical Services, and Past President of both the New York Regional Society of Plastic Surgeons and the New Jersey Society of Plastic Surgery.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Abramson has made lasting contributions to medical education
and research, authoring more than 30 publications and book chapters while frequently lecturing at hospitals and academic institutions nationwide.
