Dr. Plakas earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine before completing his orthopedic surgery residency at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey. He then pursued additional specialized training through a one-year fellowship in pediatric orthopedics at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York.
His commitment to education and the next generation of physicians extends beyond his clinical practice. Dr. Plakas serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and remains actively involved in professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the New Jersey Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
