Dr. Christos Plakas
Dr. Plakas is a board-certified, fellowship-trained pediatric orthopedic surgeon and the founder of Coastal Pediatric Orthopedics. He established the practice in 2017 with a vision to deliver pediatric orthopedic care differently, creating a more accessible, responsive, and family-centered experience for every patient. Believing that modern medicine should prioritize communication and convenience, Dr. Plakas built his practice around direct accessibility, timely care, and transparent physician-patient relationships.
Today, Coastal Pediatric Orthopedics cares for more than 1,000 pediatric patients each year. Despite the practice’s continued growth, Dr. Plakas remains deeply committed to providing every child and family with individualized attention, compassionate care, and the responsiveness they deserve.
Christos Plakas, MD
Dr. Plakas earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey, followed by an additional year of advanced fellowship training in pediatric orthopedics at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, New York.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Plakas serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the New Jersey Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
