David St. Ledger, DDS

Dr. David St. Ledger is committed to learning. In 1990, he received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and minored in Sociology from The University of Scranton. He also holds and successfully defended his undergraduate thesis in molecular biology with two years of laboratory research. He received a degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in 1994, where he was Vice-President and then President of the Student Council from 1992-94, received the Crest Award in Geriatric Dentistry, and multiple leadership awards from the University, including The Ella Marie Ewell Award, as well as from the American College of Dentists.
After dental school, Dr. St. Ledger spent a year in a general practice residency program at The Mountainside Hospital. He became an Attending at Mountainside Hospital in 1996 where he is a teacher and Clinical Professor, to present day. He is involved with the local schools for education and awareness during Dental Health Month. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentisty, an elected member by peer review to the International Association of Dentists and Physicians, and The Western Essex Dental Association, the latter of which he served as an officer for four years and additionally as President for 2002 and 2003. Dr. St. Ledger is very active in advanced dental education. He is an alumnus of the world renowned Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education and The Spear Institute for Advanced Dental Education. He is currently involved in a continuum of learning as a Faculty Group member at Spear Education in Scottsdale, AZ.
Stephen Press B.S., D.M.D. graduated from S.U.N.Y. at Albany with a Bachelor of Science degree and from the University of Pittsburgh school of Dental Medicine where he received his Doctorate in 1990 with a license in Conscious Sedation. After graduation, he began practicing in the Montclair area and in 1996 started Upper Montclair Dental Associates. With a philosophy of high quality, patient orientated dental care, in a warm, comfortable and friendly environment, emphasis in educating their patients the value of , which empowers them to make more informed decisions about their oral health needs.
Dr. Press is currently on staff at Mountainside Hospital as an Attending General Dentist where he instructs the dental residents. Active in the community, he participates during Dental Health Month visiting schools and is past Vice President in the Montclair Rotary Club. His philosophy is to always strive for perfection which necessitates a lifelong commitment to education and therefore attends classes on a monthly basis. Having studied at the prestigious Pankey Institute, Dr. Press also takes continuing education with The Spear Institute, The Academy of Comprehensive Dental Studies et al.
What makes their Office rather unique is their comprehensive approach in evaluating and in treatment. A single tooth alone cannot walk through their doors. People do. What may be perceived as a tooth problem may have started as a gum (periodontal) problem, or a bite problem, or a problem from bad habits. They evaluate the entire craniomandibular system: your teeth, gums, bone, ligaments, jaws joints, and musculature. How all of those parts work together bio-mechanically is often left as clues on your teeth and in your gums. It makes a simple treatment plan simpler, and clarifies the more complex treatment plan. All of this is done so we may educate you on your oral health, and offer you options and solutions to fit our care into your lifestyle.
Office hours are by appointment only. They are open evenings and weekends. Their Orthodontist treats patients Wednesday afternoon and evening. Their Office is warm, quaint, and friendly.
