She is part of a group of neurologists, and specialized nurses with special training in the management and treatment of multiple sclerosis.

The South Jersey MS Center is the largest private infusion suite dedicated to offering both urgent care for multiple sclerosis, as well as preventative disease modulatory therapies. Dr. Hightower is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology as well as board certified in Clinical Neurophysiology. In addition to management of Multiple Sclerosis, she also treats Headaches, Epilepsy, Peripheral Nerve Disorders, Traumatic Brain Injury, Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.

Dr. Indrani S. Hightower was born in Jersey City. She is the daughter of first generation Bengali immigrants to this country. Her father instilled in Indrani the importance of hard work, dedication, and the importance of being compassionate. Her parents believed that she could achieve whatever she wished to do through determination and perseverance, and overcome all obstacles.

During medical school, her choice to study Neurology came from losing her beloved mother-in-law in 1999 to a fatal brain tumor. Dr. Hightower loved her mother in law dearly, who was a vibrant woman. She was full of joy, and love. She had a witty sense of humor and had raised two children by herself with great inner strength. While taking care of her mother-in-law during her illness, Dr. Hightower watched her mother-in-law lose her most precious gifts one by one – her amazing personality, her humor, and her ability to laugh. At that point Dr. Hightower became determined to understand the brain and restore as much function as possible, to combat neurodegenerative diseases, and dedicated her career to studying what she felt was the most intricate, complex and beautiful organ of all – the human brain.

Dr. Indrani Hightower went to Douglass College in Rutgers University in the B.A./M.D. Honors program. She did her Internal Medicine first year training in 1999-2000 at Albert Einstein Medical Center. Consequently, she was accepted into Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Neurology Residency Program in 2000, and became the Chief Resident of Neurology in 2003. After this, she did her subspecialty training in Clinical Neurophysiology which includes interpretation of EEGs, evoked potentials, and performing EMGs in the diagnosis of peripheral nerve disorders.  At present she is practicing general neurology, with special care to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with multiple sclerosis.

Dr. Hightower has done work to improve the quality of life of multiple sclerosis patients by working with the National MS Society Governmental Relations Committee in order to promote health care legislation that will improve the quality of life of her patients. Her goal is accessible and  affordable healthcare for her multiple sclerosis patients.

Dr. Hightower is the proud mother of two beautiful twin children that are 8 years old and already can recite the cranial nerves, and describe the differences between the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Conceived after years of in vitro, they are her endless source of pride and joy.
