Dr. David Lin Recognized as a 2026 NJ Top Doc for Pediatric Orthopedic Care
Dr. David Lin has been reviewed and approved as a 2026 NJ Top Doc based on merit. For Dr. Lin, caring for children with orthopedic injuries is about more than treating a broken bone or repairing a sports injury. It is about helping young patients get back to the activities they love while giving families confidence that their child is in experienced, compassionate hands.
A board-certified pediatric orthopedic surgeon and fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Lin has dedicated his career to caring for children and adolescents with a wide range of orthopedic conditions. His clinical interests include pediatric and adolescent trauma, sports injuries, limb deformities and clubfeet, as well as minimally invasive and arthroscopic treatments for young athletes.
Dr. Lin’s path to pediatric orthopedics began at Cornell University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. That background continues to influence the way he approaches medicine. He brings an engineer’s appreciation for precision, problem-solving and innovation to the complex challenges of musculoskeletal care, always looking for ways to optimize healing, recovery and long-term function.
He went on to earn his medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, where he also completed his surgical internship. After completing his orthopedic surgical training at Saint Vincent/Catholic Medical Center in New York City, Dr. Lin spent an additional year as chief resident, helping train the next generation of orthopedic surgeons.
He then pursued advanced fellowship training in pediatric orthopedics at the internationally recognized Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee, affiliated with Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. There, he developed extensive expertise in pediatric trauma and pediatric sports medicine, areas that remain central to his practice today.
Dr. Lin returned to New Jersey in 2002, joining Dr. Mark Rieger at The Pediatric Orthopedic Center’s main campus in Cedar Knolls. He became a senior physician partner in 2004 and remains proud to care for children and adolescents alongside the dedicated physicians and staff at the Center’s Cedar Knolls and Wayne locations. His practice encompasses everything from common childhood fractures to complex sports injuries. He has particular expertise in treating broken bones, overuse injuries, meniscal injuries, labral tears and ACL injuries in children and adolescents.
Whether a child is recovering from a playground injury or an athlete is facing a season-ending knee injury, Dr. Lin understands that the experience can be stressful for both the patient and their family. His goal is to provide thoughtful, individualized care while helping young patients understand their treatment and feel comfortable throughout the process.
After more than two decades caring for young patients in New Jersey, Dr. Lin continues to bring the same combination of technical expertise, curiosity and genuine dedication to every patient he sees. For families at The Pediatric Orthopedic Center, that means having a physician who understands not only the complexities of pediatric orthopedic care, but also the importance of helping children feel like themselves again.
