Dr. Jan Huston is the Founder and Director of Summit Breast Care.Trained as a general and vascular surgeon, she has devoted herself to the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease.
Dr. Huston currently serves at the Hackensack UMC Mountainside in Montclair, New Jersey, where she holds the position of Medical Director of the Breast Center. Dr. Huston received her Medical Doctorate at Michigan State University.She completed her Vascular Fellowship at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center and received her Master’s in Psychology at Western Michigan University.She is board certified in General Surgery.
Dr. Huston was selected to lead the Mountainside Hospital Breast Health Program featuring state-of-the-art diagnostics and treatment options for the cancerous and non-cancerous conditions of the breast. Dr. Huston has taken a special interest in the area of oncoplastic surgery- carefully choosing the surgical site for a patient undergoing “lumpectomy” and rebuilding the surrounding breast tissue. This yields a beautiful cosmetic result with minimal scaring or defect from the procedure necessary to remove the cancer.
Dr. Huston has been committed to continuing her education and honing her skills in the evaluation of mammograms, using ultrasound to enhance the physical exam and to facilitate office biopsy procedures. She has sought training in the procedures of sentinel node and stereotactic biopsies.
Dr. Huston has been in practice for over 25 years during which time she has been nominated 14 consecutive years as “Top Doctor” by her peers and the last several years she has been listed in “Top Doctors for Women.”Dr. Huston was the Medical Honoree at the Susan G. Komen Pink Tie Fundraiser in 2009 and has been honored twice by the American Cancer Society.More recently, in 2012, Dr. Huston was named “Alumni of the Year” by her alma mater, Western Michigan University.
