Colleen Coleman, MD of Outlook Eyecare has been reviewed and approved by NJ Top Docs for 2018. Dr. Coleman is a board certified ophthalmologist specializing in glaucoma treatments. She is also an experienced cataract surgeon.
After earning her medical degree from Wayne State University in Michigan, Dr. Coleman completed an ophthalmology residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. There, she served as chief resident in her final year. Following her residency, Dr. Coleman completed an advanced training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and a fellowship in treating glaucoma.
When asked why Dr. Coleman entered into the field of ophthalmology, she stated “During medical school, I chose an ophthalmology elective course and fell in love with it. I love the combination of surgery and patient care in the office. I tend to be a detail oriented person and found that ophthalmology fit well with that part of my personality.”
Prior to joining Outlook Eyecare in 2009, Dr. Coleman was the head of glaucoma treatment at a large practice in Philadelphia. She was also a clinical instructor for residents at Wills Eye Institute during that time.
“Forming long-term relationships with glaucoma patients and helping maintain the quality of their lives are some of the most reward part of being an ophthalmologist,” Dr. Coleman says.
