He returned to his roots to earn his Medical Degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, where he graduated with distinction as a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Bakhos then completed his Orthopaedic Residency at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, followed by the Otto E. Aufranc Fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at New England Baptist Hospital—recognized as one of the nation’s leading centers for orthopaedic care and joint replacement. During this fellowship, he honed his expertise in complex and revision hip and knee replacements.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Bakhos is deeply committed to advancing the field of orthopaedics through research. His work focuses on soft tissue preservation in total hip arthroplasty, reducing the need for blood transfusions after joint replacement, and minimizing the risks of total hip dislocation. His research has been showcased at multiple national conferences.
Driven by a passion for continuous learning, Dr. Bakhos regularly participates in conferences and training to stay at the forefront of surgical advancements, integrating the latest techniques into his practice to benefit his patients.
Dr. Bakhos is an active member of several prestigious professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the International Congress for Joint Reconstruction.
