Dr. Bakhos was born and raised in Monmouth County, NJ. He left New Jersey to pursue his undergraduate degree at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, but then returned home earning his Medical Degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, where he graduated as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Following graduation, Dr. Bakhos completed his Orthopaedic Residency at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He then furthered his sub-specialty training by completing the Otto E. Aufranc Fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, one of the top orthopaedic and joint replacement centers in the country. There Dr. Bakhos received extensive training in complex and revision hip and knee replacements.
Dr. Bakhos dedicates time to expanding his field with research, particularly on topics such as soft tissue preservation in total hip arthroplasty; the reduction of blood transfusions after joint replacement; and the minimization of risks in total hip dislocation. Dr. Bakhos’ work has been presented at numerous national meetings.
While a dedicated surgeon, Dr. Bakhos is forever a student and always looks to add to his surgical skills and techniques. He regularly attends meetings where he looks to integrate the latest developments into his practice for the betterment of his patients.
Dr. Bakhos is a Member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the International Congress for Joint Reconstruction.
