Lisa Silbret, M.D. and Alan Schechter, M.D. have been reviewed and approved based on merit by NJ Top Docs for 2025. Dr. Silbret is a board-certified dermatologist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, specializing in cosmetic, medical, and surgical dermatology. Before relocating to New Jersey, she practiced in New York City. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and graduated with honors from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Honor Society. Dr. Silbret received several prestigious awards, including the Janet E. Glasgow Achievement Award for Women in Medicine and the International Health Fellowship Award. She completed her medical internship at The New York Hospital of Cornell University Medical Center and gained additional clinical experience at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital. Dr. Silbret went on to serve as Chief Resident during her dermatology residency at Montefiore/Einstein Medical Center.

In addition to her clinical training, Dr. Silbret has been involved in dermatological research. At Rockefeller University, she contributed to studies on melanoma, and she has presented her pediatric dermatology research to the New York Dermatologic Society. Dr. Silbret has also volunteered in Namibia, where she helped establish a medical educational program, worked in local clinics, and participated in a surgical team providing care to underserved communities.

Now practicing in New Jersey, Dr. Silbret combines her advanced clinical skills, scientific knowledge of the skin, and compassionate approach to care. Alongside her colleague Dr. Alan Schechter, she offers comprehensive dermatology services, including cosmetic, medical, and surgical treatments.

Dr. Schechter, originally from New York City, now practices in Monmouth County, New Jersey. With a background in molecular biology, Dr. Schechter earned his Ph.D. from Princeton University and completed postdoctoral research at MIT. His work on the cancer-causing gene erB-2, now widely used in breast cancer diagnostics, has earned him numerous honors, including scholarships from the NIH, the Anna Fuller Fund, and the American Cancer Society. Dr. Schechter has published extensively in top journals such as Nature, Cell, and Science and has lectured at international medical conferences.

Dr. Schechter received his M.D. from the University of Miami School of Medicine. His internship at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital was followed by a dermatology and dermatologic surgery residency at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York City. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and an Associate Clinical Professor at the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine.
