Dr. Armbruster is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with over 15 years of experience specializing in hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery. Born and raised in Atlantic City, New Jersey, he is proud to serve the Jersey Shore community that shaped his roots.
Renowned for his expertise in managing complex hand and upper extremity conditions, Dr. Armbruster combines advanced surgical skill with a patient-centered approach. His clinical focus includes the treatment of traumatic, degenerative, sports-related, and overuse injuries of the hand and arm. He also offers the innovative WALANT (Wide Awake Local Anesthesia No Tourniquet) procedure for select hand surgeries—allowing patients to undergo surgery safely and comfortably without general anesthesia and often with a quicker recovery.
A respected leader in his field, Dr. Armbruster served as the 2022–2023 National President of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics. He is also affiliated with CentraState and remains at the forefront of orthopedic innovation through ongoing research, publications, and national presentations.
Dr. Armbruster earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Cellular & Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a Master of Arts in Medical Sciences from Boston University School of Medicine, where he conducted research on the molecular basis of arthritis and connective tissue disorders at the National Arthritis Laboratory. He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at what is now Jefferson Health in New Jersey. During his training, Dr. Armbruster gained extensive experience in trauma care at Cooper University Hospital and pediatric orthopedics at AI DuPont Hospital for Children. He also served as Assistant Team Physician for the Camden Riversharks professional baseball team from 2003 to 2007.
Following residency, Dr. Armbruster completed a fellowship in Hand, Upper Extremity, and Microvascular Surgery at Rutgers Health – New Jersey Medical School. He holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand and is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the nation’s leading organization dedicated to the advancement of upper extremity care, education, and research.
