Dr. Tamir Bloom Recognized for Pediatric Orthopedic Care as a 2026 NJ Top Doc
Tamir Bloom, MD, FAAOS, has been reviewed and approved as a 2026 NJ Top Doc based on merit. A board-certified pediatric orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Bloom provides specialized care for children and young adults with a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions, including hip disorders, fractures, sports injuries, limb deformities, and complex foot conditions such as clubfoot. He also has a particular interest in caring for children with neuromuscular conditions, including cerebral palsy and spina bifida.
Dr. Bloom earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania before receiving his medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, followed by fellowship training in pediatric orthopedics and scoliosis at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. There, he trained under several respected leaders in pediatric orthopedics and scoliosis.
His commitment to specialized pediatric orthopedic care continued with advanced training in the Ponseti Method, a non-invasive approach to treating clubfoot. In 2024, Dr. Bloom completed the Ponseti International Association Neubauer Clubfoot Fellowship at the University of Iowa, where the technique originated. The experience provided him with advanced training under recognized experts in the field.
Dr. Bloom has also maintained a strong commitment to education throughout his career. He previously served as an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatric Orthopaedics at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School and continues to teach orthopedic residents and medical students through RWJBarnabas Health Jersey City Medical Center.
As a former elite athlete and two-time Olympian, Dr. Bloom brings a unique perspective to the care of young athletes. He competed in fencing for Team USA at the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympic Games and is a two-time U.S. National Champion and two-time Pan-American Games silver medalist. His firsthand experience with sports injuries and the demands of high-level competition informs his understanding of young athletes working to recover and return to the activities they love.
Dr. Bloom has been recognized by NJ Family Magazine as a Favorite Kids’ Doc and has contributed to the field through published research, book chapters, and educational resources focused on pediatric orthopedic conditions.
