“OAT is a noninvasive treatment using a dental appliance that looks like a night guard, where one piece fits the upper arch and the second piece fits the lower arch. It’s worn during sleep, supporting the jaw in a forward position, to help maintain an open upper airway,” explains Dr. Dionne. “It’s considered an effective alternative to CPAP therapy, which involves sleeping with a face mask connected by tubing to a constantly running machine.”

To ensure he’s safely accommodating patients during the pandemic, Dr. Dionne has equipped each exam room with a UV light HEPA filtration system and sterilizes with a hypochlorous acid fogger after each patient visit. The latter is a safe, nontoxic biocide and powerful agent that quickly kills viruses on surfaces and in the air.

Dr. Dionne is community-oriented and located across the street from Mountainside Medical Hospital, where he serves on the staff overseeing dental residents. During the lockdown, he remained open to handle dental emergencies.
