At Kayal Pediatrics, our mission is to provide exceptional, personalized, and evidence-based pediatric care that supports every aspect of a child’s health—physical, emotional, mental, and developmental. We are committed to caring for the whole child while building strong, trusting relationships with the families we serve. Our goal is to create a true pediatric medical home where parents feel heard, respected, and supported, children feel safe, comfortable, and genuinely cared for, and every patient receives individualized, accessible care grounded in the latest medical evidence.
Basil Bruno, MD
Dr. Basil Bruno has proudly served families in Bergen County for over 30 years, providing compassionate pediatric care from the newborn stage through young adulthood. He values building long-term relationships with families and supporting children through every milestone of growth.
In addition to his office practice, Dr. Bruno regularly rounds at local hospitals to care for newborns and is actively involved in teaching medical students and pediatric residents, sharing his experience with the next generation of physicians.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Bruno treasures time with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren—especially family trips to Disney. A lifelong musician, he has been playing in rock bands since his teenage years and continues to write, record, and perform original music with several bands today.
Uma Taneja, DO
Dr. Uma Taneja has been caring for children and families in Bergen County since 2003. From the start of her career, she has had a strong focus on adolescent medicine, and in recent years—particularly since the COVID-19 pandemic—she has expanded her expertise in pediatric mental health. In 2023, she completed specialized certification training, further strengthening her ability to support patients through a holistic, whole-person approach to care.
Dr. Taneja is deeply committed to education and has found great fulfillment in mentoring medical students and residents, helping shape the next generation of compassionate physicians. She completed her pediatric residency at Winthrop University Hospital before relocating to Bergen County to begin her family life.
Dr. Taneja is a proud mother of two children, both Duke University graduates who have gone on to successful careers. While remaining closely connected to her children, she now enjoys spending her free time attending sporting events, playing cards, and traveling with her husband, who is also a practicing physician.
Julie Aliaga, MD, MBA, FAAP
Dr. Julie Aliaga is a board-certified pediatrician dedicated to providing compassionate, comprehensive care grounded in strong academic and clinical training. She earned her medical degree from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and completed her pediatric residency through the Albert Einstein College of Medicine program.
Dr. Aliaga’s clinical interests include childhood obesity, autism, and asthma management. Outside of the office, she enjoys teaching and practicing yoga as well as Pilates, reflecting her commitment to overall health and wellness.
