About Us

Garden State Pain & Orthopedics was founded in 1994 with the goal of providing compassionate and comprehensive pain management to people struggling with acute and chronic pain. Over the years, the practice has expanded to include more than 30 employees and currently has four convenient locations in Edison, Clifton, Hazlet, Paramus, and Jersey City, New Jersey.

Garden State Pain & Orthopedics is on the cutting edge of technology in pain medicine and has assembled a team of highly-trained physicians with expertise across diverse pain conditions and treatment modalities, including interventional pain techniques, minimally-invasive surgeries, medical management, physical therapy, rehabilitation, and behavioral therapy.

Deepan Patel, MD

Deepan Patel, MD, offers the latest cutting-edge techniques in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee at Garden State Pain & Orthopedics. Dr. Patel specializes in cartilage restoration techniques and advanced shoulder reconstructive surgery. He also offers innovative treatment options for common sports-related injuries, including ACL tears, meniscus tears, and labral tears. Dr. Patel serves patients at convenient locations in Edison, Clifton, Paramus, and Jersey City, New Jersey.

Dr. Patel is fellow-trained in minimally invasive procedures, including robot-assisted partial knee replacements, hip arthroscopy, and shoulder resurfacing arthroplasty. While his experience in these surgeries is extensive, Dr. Patel doesn’t rush to surgery without first looking for noninvasive treatments that can address a patient’s mobility and pain.

Dr. Patel is especially passionate about treating ACL injuries, and the latest advancements in cartilage restoration techniques. He remains dedicated to learning the newest procedures and cutting-edge technologies, including robot-assisted surgeries, that weren’t available just a decade ago.

  • Dev Sinha, MD

    Dr. Dev Sinha specializes in pain medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation at Garden State Pain & Orthopedics. He uses a comprehensive approach when treating pain, integrating physical and behavioral therapies, medications, and the most innovative, minimally-invasive procedures. He believes in offering alternative medicine therapies for the treatment of difficult-to-treat pain conditions. His expert care is available at four convenient locations in Edison, Clifton, Hazlet, and Jersey City, New Jersey.

    Dr. Sinha attended George Washington University, then earned his Doctor of Medicine from American University of Antigua College of Medicine. He went on to complete his residency and fellowship training in interventional pain medicine at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

    During his fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, he trained with the top physicians in the field of pain management. His dedication to the advancement of the field can be seen through his numerous publications that contribute to the study and treatment of pain medicine.

  • Dipan Patel, MD

    Dr. Dipan Patel is a board-certified anesthesiologist and interventional pain physician at Garden State Pain & Orthopedics. He considers it an honor to help people overcome their pain and regain their quality of life. His special interests include Botox® for chronic pain disorders, trigeminal neuralgia, temporomandibular joint disorders, and headache and chronic migraine. Dr. Patel also specializes in complex regional pain syndrome, joint pain, and post-laminectomy syndrome. He welcomes patients at four office locations: Edison, Clifton, Hazlet, and Jersey City, New Jersey.

    After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Patel did his internship in internal medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh and finished his residency in anesthesiology at New York Medical College. He completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in interventional pain medicine at New York University Langone Medical Center in Manhattan.

    During his fellowship training, Dr. Patel developed advanced skills and experience at renowned New York City hospitals. These include Tisch Hospital of NYU, Hospital for Joint Disease, Manhattan Veteran’s Affairs Hospital, Bellevue Hospital, and specialty outpatient centers such as the Center for Musculoskeletal Care and the Center for the Study and Treatment of Pain. As a result, Dr. Patel possesses one of the most comprehensive skill sets within the discipline of interventional pain medicine.

  • Jahnna Levy, DO

    Dr. Jahnna Levy practices physical medicine and rehabilitation at Garden State Pain & Orthopedics, where her expertise contributes a vital component to each person’s treatment and recovery. As an osteopathic physiatrist, she believes in a multifaceted and holistic approach to pain management. She treats each person as an individual, formulating a systematic treatment plan to restore function, reduce pain, and improve their quality of life when they receive care at one of four office locations: Edison, Clifton, Hazlet, and Jersey City, New Jersey.

    Dr. Levy attended medical school at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York City. During this time, she became proficient in musculoskeletal medicine and co-founded the Osteopathic Orthopedic Organization.

    During her fellowship, Dr. Levy was trained to perform a variety of nonsurgical orthopedic procedures and fluoroscopically-guided injections for neck, back, and joint pain. She’s also trained in spinal cord stimulator placement, EMGs, diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, and percutaneous tenotomy for tendon injuries. Additionally, she received training in medical acupuncture and migraine management.

    Dr. Levy is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and fellowship trained in interventional pain management and sports medicine.

  • Neil Sinha, MD

    Dr. Neil Sinha provides comprehensive interventional pain medicine at Garden State Pain & Orthopedics, where he tailors individual treatment options to the unique needs of each patient. He believes that patient education and establishing a caring doctor-patient relationship are integral parts of the healing process.

    Dr. Sinha uses a multi-pronged approach to managing pain, including interventional pain techniques, minimally-invasive surgeries, medical management, and physical and behavioral therapy. His goal is to restore function and improve the quality of his patients’ lives, who are welcome at one of four office locations: Edison, Clifton, Hazlet, and Jersey City, New Jersey.

    Dr. Sinha is especially interested in treating cervical and lumbar pain, sciatica, spinal stenosis, and post-laminectomy syndrome. He also specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of complex regional pain syndrome, facial pain, and headaches.

    Dr. Sinha completed his Interventional Pain Management Fellowship at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation. While there, Dr. Sinha trained in cutting-edge technology with leaders in the field of pain management. He was nominated and served as Chief Fellow and was awarded the Ethelee R. Smith Award for Most Outstanding Fellow.

    Dr. Sinha is board certified in anesthesiology and pain management and is licensed to practice medicine in Ohio, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

  • Saurabh Dang, MD

    Dr. Saurabh Dang brings his extensive experience in pain medicine to Garden State Pain & Orthopedics. He offers the full range of interventional pain management, with special interests in cancer pain, failed back surgery syndrome, complex regional pain syndrome, and neuromodulation. He’s a board-certified anesthesiologist who welcomes patients at four locations: Edison, Clifton, Hazlet, and Jersey City, New Jersey.

    Dr. Dang did an internship in general surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City, then entered his anesthesiology residency at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. During that time, he was elected Chief Resident and was awarded Resident of the Year during his final year of training. He completed his fellowship training in interventional pain medicine at the University of Toledo, where he gained significant experience in the use of implantable devices for the management of chronic pain.

    Dr. Dang has extensive training in various treatment modalities, including spinal cord stimulation, intrathecal drug delivery systems, and radiofrequency rhizotomy procedures. He’s also experienced in administering epidural steroid injections, selective nerve blocks, and joint injections.

    Returning to his roots in New Jersey, Dr. Dang provides coordinated, patient-centered pain management services. His commitment to providing the most evidence-based care is seen through his publications in both anesthesiology and pain management and his presentations at prestigious conferences.

  • Andrew So, MD

    Andrew So, MD, is a board-certified anesthesiologist and interventional pain management physician at Garden State Pain & Orthopedics with offices in Edison, Clifton, Hazlet or Jersey City, New Jersey. Dr. So believes that each patient’s care should be personalized and strives to ensure the highest level of comfort and compassion through a multi-modal treatment approach. His specialties include neck pain, back pain, spine pain, post-laminectomy syndrome, headache pain, migraine pain, joint pain, knee pain, shoulder pain, hip pain, neuropathy, acute, and post-surgical pain syndromes, and complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), amongst others.

    In addition to his extensive training, Dr. So has contributed to the field of pain management through research initiatives and various publications, including first author credits for multiple chapters in Deer’s Treatment of Pain: An Illustrated Guide for Practitioners, as well as presentations at national and regional conferences.

    Dr. So believes in utilizing a comprehensive and multi-modal approach to pain management, allowing him to effectively diagnose, treat, and manage a wide array of pain and musculoskeletal-related conditions. He also possesses a robust procedural skill set including axial and peripheral procedures utilizing both fluoroscopic and ultrasound guidance.

  • Dr. So attended the University of Michigan, where he graduated as an Angel Scholar with a Bachelor of Science in Brain Behavior & Cognitive Sciences.
  • He received his Doctor of Medicine from Virginia Commonwealth University as a distinguished merit scholar, where he was also voted class president by his peers for his leadership abilities.
  • He then went on to complete his residency in Anesthesiology at Albert Einstein University of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. During his residency, Dr. So was honored by his peers and faculty with the highly coveted Leo M. Davidoff Society Outstanding Teacher Award.
  • Following residency, Dr. So completed fellowship training at Albert Einstein University of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center specializing in interventional pain management, where he served as a chief administrative fellow.
