Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine prepares future physicians and scientists who are committed to improving health in New Jersey and throughout the nation. Alissa Brotman O’Neill, DO
Dr. Brotman is a distinguished, board certified Vascular Surgeon by the American College Osteopathic Surgeons and a recognized leader in the field of Vascular Surgery. She currently serves as the incoming Chair of Surgery at Rowan/SOM. With a focus on venous technology and treatment, she has made significant contributions to the field, particular in the areas of varicose veins, deep venous disorders and cosmetic venous disturbances using minimally invasive technique. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard University. She did her medical and general surgery training at Rowan/som and her vascular surgical fellowship at Mt. Sinai-Englewood division.
Dr. Brotman is an active member of the Society of Vascular Surgery, the Peripheral Vascular Surgical Society, the American Venous Forum, the Eastern Vascular Surgical Society. She is immediate past president of the Vascular society of NJ and served as only the second female president in its 43 year history. She is a founding member of the Women’s Steering Committee on the Society of Vascular Surgery and serves on the Video Committee for the Society of Vascular Surgery. She has been dedicated to promoting inclusivity in vascular surgery.
Dr. Brotman is a recognized lecturer including the UPenn Fellows series and other national meetings. She has been published in the Journal of Vascular Surgery and is trained and certified in vascular ultrasound. She has been named top doc to NJ Magazine, SJ Magazine, Philly magazine and is committed to advancing frontiers of surgical excellence in both education and research. She ensures the tenets of Osteopathic patient centered care are integrated into surgical care. She was a member of the Harvard Varsity cross country and track teams and still enjoys running.
