Dr. Raja Barakat is a dedicated pediatrician whose medical career spans decades of compassionate care and clinical excellence. She began her medical training at Damascus University Medical School in Syria, earning her medical degree in 1973. After completing her internship at University Hospital in Damascus, she continued her journey in the United States, where she completed her residency in General Pediatrics at UMDNJ – New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Barakat further advanced her expertise through a Pediatric Ambulatory Care Fellowship at the same institution, strengthening her commitment to providing comprehensive, family-centered pediatric care.

Dr. Barakat’s leadership and dedication to the field were recently recognized when she was elected Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Bayshore Community Hospital—an honor that reflects her deep experience, clinical skill, and tireless advocacy for children’s health.
