Dr. Scimeca’s path in medicine began at Columbia University, where he studied chemistry, before earning his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He went on to complete a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at Pennsylvania Hospital and his ophthalmology residency at Temple University Hospital. Today, he is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and remains an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Scimeca has played an important role in shaping the field of ophthalmology. He has served as Chief of Ophthalmology at Lourdes Hospital and as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania. His research has been published in leading medical journals, and he has contributed to a widely used ophthalmology textbook—demonstrating a commitment not only to patient care, but to advancing the field as a whole.

For more than 25 years, Dr. Scimeca has built a trusted practice rooted in experience, education, and compassion. He regularly teaches continuing education courses for fellow physicians, helping them stay current with evolving techniques and technologies. Consistently recognized by both peers and patients, he is widely regarded as one of South Jersey’s leading ophthalmologists.

Continuing a family legacy in medicine, Dr. Scimeca approaches every patient with a strong sense of responsibility and care. He is committed to providing personalized treatment and helping each individual achieve their best possible vision. Outside of his practice, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children.
