Center for Specialized Psychology
At the Center for Specialized Psychology (CSP), integrity is at the heart of everything we do. From clinical care to business operations, we uphold the highest ethical standards, guided by the Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct for Psychologists and Counselors.
Our commitment extends beyond compliance—it’s a shared responsibility embraced by every member of our team. Each provider is expected to act with honesty, professionalism, and accountability in alignment with their role and scope of practice.
CSP is dedicated to delivering quality care grounded in ethical excellence. We believe that maintaining trust, transparency, and ethical rigor is essential to fostering meaningful therapeutic relationships and long-lasting impact.
Nina Badaan Shinway, Psy.D.
Dr. Shinway established the Center for Specialized Psychology with a clear mission: to provide personalized, compassionate care for women and children impacted by trauma. A licensed clinical psychologist in New Jersey, New York, Florida, and Vermont, Dr. Shinway brings deep expertise and a trauma-informed approach to every aspect of her work. She is certified in Perinatal Mental Health and offers clinical supervision for graduate students, interns, and postdoctoral residents, helping shape the next generation of trauma-informed clinicians.
With a strong focus on the psychological wellbeing of women, Dr. Shinway specializes in treating those affected by domestic violence, childhood abuse, and reproductive or women’s health-related challenges. Her therapeutic approach integrates evidence-based modalities—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Prolonged Exposure—to support each client’s unique healing process. Her work fosters self-empowerment, emotional resilience, and long-term stability.
Dr. Shinway earned both her M.S. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University, where she trained under leaders in trauma and domestic violence. Her foundation in Forensic Psychology stems from her B.A. and M.A. from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Shinway serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Nova Southeastern University. She teaches the graduate-level course Child Maltreatment and Trauma Assessment and Intervention, mentoring students who aspire to specialize in trauma treatment.

I would like to thank you and your team for making this process pleasant and seamless. This was my first experience with therapy and I was quite nervous, but everyone eased my concerns and made me feel comfortable. I also appreciate the open level of communication as I always felt well-informed. I truly wish this experience was not so short-lived because it has been nothing but positive.
